Privacy Policy
Last updated November 3, 2026
Gabbly is an iPhone app that turns voice notes into writing. Voice notes are personal, so this policy explains in plain language what we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it and how you can delete it. “Gabbly”, “we” and “us” mean Kisan Kumavat, who operates Gabbly.
The short version
- We collect only what Gabbly needs to work: your account details and the notes you make.
- Your audio and text are sent to two AI providers to transcribe and write your notes. We ask your permission first, and they don't use your data to train their models.
- Recordings are deleted automatically 30 days after you make them. Notes stay until you delete them.
- No ads, no tracking across apps or websites, and we never sell your data.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time.
What we collect
Account details
When you sign in with Google or your email address, we receive your email address and, with Google, your name and profile photo. We use them to identify your account and to contact you about it.
Your content
The recordings you make or import, their transcripts, the notes Gabbly writes, notes you type, rewrites and translations, and the things you add to organize them: tags, speaker names, custom writing styles and “special words”.
Settings and usage
Your preferences (such as languages, note length and theme), whether you've agreed to AI processing and when, and how many minutes you've used this month, so we can apply your plan's limits.
Purchases
If you subscribe, Apple handles payment. We receive your subscription status (which plan, and whether it's active) but never your payment card details.
On your device
If a recording can't be uploaded right away, Gabbly keeps it on your phone until it can. These recordings are linked to your account on that device and deleted once they're transcribed or when you delete them.
Waitlist
If you join the waitlist on this website, we store your email address, which form you used and the country your request came from (from Cloudflare, not your IP address). We use it only to tell you when Gabbly is available.
We don't use advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools that track you, in the app or on this website.
How your notes are made: AI processing
Before your first note, Gabbly shows you what is shared and asks for your permission. Nothing is sent to an AI provider until you agree. With your permission:
- Deepgram receives your audio (and your special words) to transcribe it. We've opted out of Deepgram's model improvement program, so your audio isn't used to train their models.
- OpenAI receives transcripts, text you write and your chosen writing style, to write, rewrite and translate your notes. OpenAI doesn't use data sent through its API to train its models, and we ask it not to store our requests. OpenAI may keep request data for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse, as its API policy describes.
They process your content only to provide these features to you.
Who else processes data for us
| Provider | What for | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Sign-in and accounts | Email, name, profile photo |
| Cloudflare | Hosting, database and file storage for the app and this website | Everything stored in Gabbly |
| Deepgram | Speech-to-text | Audio, special words |
| OpenAI | Writing, rewriting and translating | Transcripts and text |
| Apple | App distribution and subscription payments | Purchase information |
These providers act on our behalf, under their own security and privacy commitments, and may process data in countries other than yours. We don't sell your data or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Recordings: deleted automatically 30 days after you make them. The transcript and note stay.
- Notes, tags and settings: kept until you delete them or your account.
- Deleted data: removed straight away from Gabbly. It may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before it's gone for good.
- Waitlist emails: kept until Gabbly launches and we've let you know, or until you ask us to remove yours.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete account. This deletes your notes, recordings, tags and settings, and your sign-in account.
- Delete individual notes or recordings at any time.
- Take your notes with you: share or export any note as Markdown or PDF.
- Ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or to remove you from the waitlist, by emailing privacy@gabbly.app.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights, such as objecting to processing or complaining to your data protection authority. We'll honor them.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and stored with our hosting provider. Recordings are private to your account and only reachable through short-lived links. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit what we keep.
Children
Gabbly isn't intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change affects what we share with AI providers, the app will ask for your permission again.
